Amazon locked out your Grok Bot? Here's how to have it find the same thing cheaper somewhere else
Amazon's rules now say no to shopping bots, so people are sending their Grok Bot to other stores, and Shop Pay just landed in Grok Bot. Here's how to set it up so it compares prices for you and still waits for your OK.

What's trending: Amazon has been shutting Grok Bots out of its checkout. Its Conditions of Use now have an Agents section, and bots that try to place an order get a notice that "continued access by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon's Conditions of Use." This week the story came back with a twist. James Douma posted: "Amazon locked out my Grok Bot. So it just bought the same thing from a different site (at a lower price)." When someone asked which site, he said it's "whatever the bot gets the best deal / best delivery at. It's different for every order." It's like the big store at the mall locking its doors, and your helper shrugging and walking to the three shops next door.
What actually changed: two real updates made "somewhere else" a lot easier. Grok Bot's October 27 update (v0.78.1) shows shopping results as cards with photos, rating, price, and store. On a product page, "Buy now starts an order you approve," and after you order, the Bot tracks it and tells you when it ships or arrives. The same update lets you "Connect Shop Pay in the Vault's Payments tab." A day later, Shopify's Fall '26 Edition put Shop Pay checkout inside personal AI agents and said Grok Bot can use it even for brands that aren't on Shopify. Shopify says the buyer stays in control and their card "is never shared with the agent."
The play: use your Bot as the friend who checks three stores before you buy anything. Everyday stuff works best: the kettle that died, the kids' next shoe size, printer ink, a birthday gift with a deadline. Ask for the total price with shipping and the delivery date, not just the sticker price, because a $3 "deal" with $9 shipping is not a deal. If you'd rather not let it buy at all yet, that's fine too. Carolina Dill wrote that hers sends her the links and she makes the purchase herself. And if Amazon really is cheapest, the Bot can hand you the link and you click buy the old-fashioned way.
How to run it: update Grok Bot to the latest version. Open the Vault in Settings, go to the Payments tab, connect Shop Pay, and pick it as the payment method Bots use first (X Money and Stripe Link also work). Then give your Bot a clear job, like: "Find the best total price, including shipping and tax, for [exact item, model, size, color] from stores that let you check out. Skip any site that blocks AI agents and don't try to get around it. Show me the top three with delivery dates and return policies, and wait for my OK before you buy." Pick a card, tap Buy now, approve the order, and let the Bot ping you when it ships. For things you don't need today, the Deal Watcher template watches prices and coupons and, per the changelog, never buys without your OK.
Watch out for: don't ask your Bot to sneak past Amazon's block. Amazon's terms forbid it, and the risk lands on your account, not the Bot's. Other stores have their own rules, so if a site blocks bots, the Bot should hand that step to you. "Same item, lower price" only counts if it really is the same item, so check the model number, size, and seller, because a cheaper listing can be a knockoff or a seller with a terrible return policy. Keep approvals on for every purchase and give it a price ceiling. Your Grok Bot is a shopping helper, not a financial advisor, so the budget calls are still yours. Candid note: bots helped research and draft this article, and a human checked every quote.
